Clint Roenisch is pleased to present two solo exhibitions by Maryse Larivière, “The Hollow,” and Tiziana La Melia, “Table of Contents (Accompanying Poem).”
About The Hollow:
‘This is my very own private cup. Ma tasse privée. I am the only one who’s ever drunk from it. Even you would never have used it. You had bought the cup in Sienna, Italy. You travelled a lot, everywhere. Whenever we were apart, even as children… We would meet at night through telepathy. At exactly ten o’clock, I would think very hard of you, and you would think very hard of me.’ 1
Maryse Lariviere’s practice shifts between dreamed realities, psychoanalytic examinations, reposts to published work, reiterations and collaborations, and inhabits performance, video, sculpture, painting and other mediums. (text by Katie Bethune Leamen)

About Table of Contents (Accompanying Poem):
The exhibition is part of a new body of work that is informed by her interest in the tension between the utilitarian and the lyrical in words, images, and objects. As an accumulation of individual works and working styles, Table of Contents (Accompanying Poem) is a rubric for several threads of work that are here interrelated: poetry, painting, drawing, and sculpture.
Tiziana La Melia (b. 1982, Palermo, Italy) is a Vancouver/Toronto based artist who practices in multiple mediums, including writing, painting, sculpture, and performance. She has recently exhibited at Susan Hobbs Gallery (Toronto) and Diaz Contemporary (Toronto) and she is featured in the current issue of Pyramid Power. In 2010, she attended the Banff Residency Figure in a Mountain Landscape (Reprise) with Silke Otto-Knapp. She recently completed a Masters of Fine Arts degree at the University of Guelph (2011).
